Life along the banks of the Quinnipiac River revolves around community. The residents represent many ages, nationalities and occupations, from bankers, artists, builders and actors to carpenters, counselors, doctors and designers. Although diverse, the community stays connected. Neighbors greet each other while running, cycling or walking through the river park; garden together with summer planting groups; meet and converse at the neighborhood restaurants; and participate in a host of community meetings and activities.
Community activities range from concerts in the park to historic home tours. Highlights of the past few years include:
- A community art contest that created the beautiful banners lining Quinnipiac Avenue
- Riverfest 2005, a family event that included a team bridge-building activity, canoe races, face painting, food and dancing
- A winter Christmas tree lighting
- Summer jazz in the park concerts
